Chicago Visitor Information

The Midway International Airport was opened in 1927 to serve the Chicago Metropolitan Area. It lost some traffic when the O'Hare International Airport opened in 1944, but it remains an important destination for travelers in the Midwest.

Midway International Airport

Midway International Airport has several amenities that make it an attractive location for air travelers. It has a yoga room where people can stretch all parts of their bodies and recover from hours spent on airplanes. A mother's room offers a tranquil space for mothers traveling with their children. The airport also has statues, paintings, and other types of artwork that provide decoration while celebrating some of the most iconic images and events in Chicago's history.

Brookfield Zoo

Brookfield Zoo

After renting a car at Midway International Airport, you can reach the Brookfield Zoo easily. The 216-acre zoo is home to more than 2,300 animals, including African lions, American bison, polar bears, otters, and meerkats. The Brookfield Zoo also has special events throughout the year. Check its website to plan your visit.

Garfield Park Conservatory

The Garfield Park Conservatory will delight your sense with nine houses, rooms, and gardens. The conservatory has several indoor areas that have been designed to support plants from other parts of the world. For instance, the wet and warm Palm House has the ideal environment for palm trees to flourish. The Desert House maintains a dry environment for cacti and succulents.

The Garfield Park Conservatory has a 12-acre outdoor garden with several sections. The conservatory even designed one of the gardens to resemble a Monet painting.

Toyota Park (Bridgeview Stadium)

Soccer fans will want to visit Toyota Park while they're in the Midway area. The 20,000-seat soccer stadium has a Kentucky Bluegrass surface and some sheltered seats.

Lagunitas Taproom

A long plane ride may leave you thirsty for one of Chicago's local craft brews. The Lagunitas Taproom, which is only 5.8 miles from Midway, offers daily tours, tasty drinks, and filling snacks. Tour times vary depending on the day, so you should visit Lagunitas online to find an option that meets your travel schedule.

National Museum of Mexican Art
